Postdoctor in Thin Film Physics,
formally based at Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM).
Duties
The position concerns fundamental research in materials physics/materials chemistry, in particular experimental studies of laminated three- and two-dimensional (3D/2D) metallic and ceramic compounds. A focus is the synthesis of these materials; bulk (powder) synthesis, thin film (vapor deposition) synthesis, and chemical etching for the 3D to 2D conversion, evaluation of their structure and composition (XRD, SEM, EDX, XPS, TEM), as well as analysis of resulting properties. Key aspects are a fundamental understanding on the atomic level and the evaluation of electronic properties (band structure and electronic structure), which are crucial for applications within the areas of catalysis and electrochemistry.
An interest in nano science and fundamental understanding of materials is necessary for the position. The activities within the project will be closely connected to theoretical modeling.
A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.
Qualifications
The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.
Documented experience from activities mentioned under Duties as well as documented excellent skills in writing/presentation is a requirement.

Two years.
