At the Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business, research and education are conducted in business administration, industrial engineering and management, resource recovery, building technology, and within the textile field: design, management and technology. Within the Faculty, there are five departments: the Department of Business Administration and Textile Management, the Department of Engineering, the Department of Resource Recovery and Building Technology, the Department of Textile Technology, and the Department of Design. The Swedish School of Textiles, as well as the two centres, the Centre for Sustainable Society Development and the Swedish Institute for Innovative Retailing/The Retail Lab, are other important elements within the Faculty. At the Faculty, there are also two research schools, in Resource Recovery and Textile and Fashion.
Job description
The research project is multidisciplinary and will be conducted at the University of Borås. The work tasks consist of:
• Develop innovation methods for fibre extraction from hemp agricultural residues
• Develop production methods for non-woven textiles containing hemp staple fibres
• Investigate methods to improve fibre quality
• Write reports
• Write publications and participate in conferences and seminars
• Communicate with companies related to the project
Other tasks can be assigned that are related to departmental duties, including teaching at the Bachelor's and Master's level in relevant courses, supervision of degree projects, and participation in external projects and/or administration.
Qualifications
For employment as a postdoctoral fellow, a doctoral degree in Textile Materials Technology is required. The doctoral degree must have been completed no later than three years prior to the last application date. You as an applicant must have good knowledge regarding the production of non-woven textiles in natural fibres and good knowledge regarding fibre fractionation. Furthermore, it is required that you have written project applications or conducted research regarding the extraction of bast fibre (hemp), and that you have a good ability to communicate in English in both speech and writing. As a person, you have a good ability to collaborate and the ability to work independently. Furthermore, you are structured and have the ability to prioritise among tasks.
Merits for employment are:
• Experience of finishing and surface treatment of non-woven textiles
• Good knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
• Ability to communicate in Swedish in speech and writing
