This is a 3-year programme, with an initial 2-year period and 1-year merit-based extension.
About the Opportunity:
We're now looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our Centre for AI within our Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) Therapy area.
This opportunity will provide invaluable insight and experience into cutting edge techniques, with direct medical science application and the opportunity to enjoy deep experience with truly impactful AI in industrial life science. As part of the programme, you will be co-supervised by senior Data Scientist from our Data Science and AI team as well as an experienced academic advisor.
This is a truly unique opportunity to further the science of applied machine learning in the pharmaceutical industry, with the support and supervision from Philip Teare, Head of Computer Vision in AstraZeneca´s Centre for AI. You will explore and evidence the limits and potentials of self-supervised learning in high dimensional data with quantitative parametric outputs, ready for medical expert interpretation. You will have the chance to learn from seasoned industry professionals and rising stars within the field of AI and computer vision and get to understand the challenges and opportunities of the biopharma industry, while planning for high impact publication from day one.
Qualification, Skills & Experience:
Essential Requirements
* PhD in Computer Science, Medical Computer Vision, AI, Physics, Diagnostics, Radiology, or another related quantitative field
* Strong background in deep learning and self-supervise learning
* Familiarity with related frameworks (Keras, PyTorch, JAX)
* Experience in Computer Vision and related techniques and tools (OpenCV, PIL, Torch Vision)
* Some experience in object-oriented programming in languages such as Python or C++
* Openness to learn
Desirable Requirements
* Strong communication skills with regards to related concepts
* Biology, life science or related background or experience
* Deep understanding and experience with modern self-supervised learning techniques
* Track record of work published in reputable scientific journals and conferences
