Institute of Biomedicine conducts research and teaching in preclinical and clinical medical sciences. The department is divided into five sections: infectious diseases, microbiology and immunology, pathology and genetics, clinical chemistry and transfusion medicine, and medicinal chemistry and cell biology. The candidate will work at the Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research, a center within the University of Gothenburg in close association with Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The center is part of a strategic research effort focused on cancer within the Sahlgrenska Academy and consists of a mixture of basic and clinical research with translational ambitions.

Subject area description
This postdoc position will be in association with Associate Professor Anders Ståhlberg and Professor Karin Sundfeldt at Sahlgrenska Center Research for Cancer. This project aims to develop next generation diagnostics within cancer diagnsotics by analyzing analytes (DNA and RNA) in liquid biopsies, including blood and urine.
Job assignments
You will be working with clinical samples, method development and several molecular biology techniques such as qPCR and NGS as well as with experimental data. The work also include supervision, drafting applications, communicate research data in oral presentations as well as in written reports. The work include close interaction with other academic and industrial collaborators, nationally and internationally.
Eligibility
An achieved doctoral degree is compulsory for a position as postdoctor at Göteborg University. The doctoral thesis shall be in a relevant area according to the specific position stated here. Since a position as postdoctor aims to give new holders of the doctorate the opportunity mainly to strengthen and develop their scholarly proficiency, we aim for those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years counting from last date of application.
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
Assessment
Area of PhD, experience and research merits within a for the project relevant subject area. We are looking for an ambitious and service oriented team player with great interpersonal and organizational skills. Suitable background is an exam in experimental tumor biology. Experience in qPCR and NGS is considered a merit. Ability to work under pressure and in a team, organizational skills and good knowledge in English, both in speech and writing, is essential. Personal suitability is of highest importance. Hence, we are looking for an enthusiastic person, who combines technical expertise with good communication skills and team working capabilities. A candidate should have a strong desire to help other researchers in their work, but also the motivation to work independently.

Employment
The employment is full time and temporary, two years, with placement at the Institute of Biomedicine. First day of employment as agreed.
