Titel:
Postdoctoral fellow in clinical biochemical analysis for validation of biomarkers in osteoarthritis
Beskrivning av arbetsuppgifter:
Identification and validation of glycoprotein biomarkers in osteoarthritis using mass spectrometry and immunilogical methods. The institute for biomedicine, Sahlgrenska Academy is now opening this position as a postdoctoral fellow in clinical biochemistry. The project aims to develop bioanalytical methods and analyzing clinical osteoarthritic samples to investigate how the glycoproteins on the surface of the cartilage are released in osteoarthritis, and can be used to improve the diagnosis of osteoarthritis. Our laboratory is a fully equipped biochemical lab with advanced mass spectrometry to identify and validate biomarkers, particularly in cancer and arthritis research. Collaborations in fundamental and applied clinical diagnostics are important for the group. We believe that by understanding the glycobiology we can identify its application in health care. The group provides and maintains the glyco database UniCarb-DB (www.unicarb.db.com), as part of our research commitment. The candidate is expected to help prepare clinical samples for analysis, maintaining the group's instruments and laboratory, interpret clinical data and patient data from mass spectrometry and ELISA, develop and adopt new mass spectrometric and ELISA methods relevant to the group's research. Interpretation of the data includes both identification of biostructures and statistical validation of quantitative clinical molecular data. The candidate should be able to present results of research both orally and in writing, and be a representative of the group at international meetings and conferences. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to contribute to the institution's educational mission for physicians, pharmacists, dentists, and biomedical technicians, and supervise project workers.
Beskrivning av kvalifikationer:
An achieved doctoral degree is compulsory for a position as postdoctor at Göteborg University. The doctoral thesis shall be in a relevant area according to the specific position stated here. Since a position as postdoctor aims to give new holders of the doctorate the opportunity mainly to strengthen and develop their scholarly proficiency, we aim for those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years counting from last date of application. The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Assessment: Documented knowledge, both practical and theoretical, in clinical biochemical analysis, mass spectrometry and immunological methods is a requirement. Documentation includes publications, conference presentations, courses, certificates and degrees. Merit is the knowledge of static analysis such as R +, and documented supervision of project workers, experience of applications for own research and maintenance and operation of the common mass spectrometric instrumentation and other advanced bioanalytical equipment. Excellent knowledge of language and international experience is required since the group consists of an international team of researchers. Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
