The Department of Biology and Environmental Science is part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The research activities within this multidisciplinary department include the areas of aquatic ecology, cell and organism biology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, environmental science and environmental engineering as well as disease ecology. 

Field of subject for the position: Environmental Science
Placement: Kalmar
Extent and period: The basis for a postdoctoral position is 100 % position to no longer than a maximum of two years. The work should start as soon as possible, according to the agreement. 

Context of position:

The work mainly consists of research on the development of methodology for recycling metals, metalloids and nutrients from fine soil, resource recycling of waste fractions, sediments and slack in the circular economy. The treatment processes from dredging, drainage and treatment as sediment and upgrading of substances / materials and effects of the use of the materials. 

The employment includes participation in several projects, but especially in the project: Habitat, resource and efficiency, with the name Life-Sure - Sediment Uptake and Remediation on Ecological Basis, Interreg but also in other related EU projects. 

20 % of the work can include teaching and tutoring in the undergraduate and graduate level.   

Qualification requirements:

Qualified for appointment is the one who holds a PhD, or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD in Environmental science, water resource engineering, Geochemistry or equivalent, and who have completed their degree no more than three years before the application deadline. 

Applicants must not have previously been employed as a postdoctoral fellow for more than a year in the same or related subject area at Linnaeus University. 

To be eligible for this position is also required to have:


• experience in field work and laboratory sorption and specification studies of metals,
• practical knowledge in laboratory analysis and field investigations in contaminated areas and water,
• high proficiency in written and spoken English.

Meriting 


• documented experience in circular economy and socio-economic aspects of environmental work,
• documented experience of teamwork and flexibility.

In its overall assessment of skills gives particular importance to an assessment of the applicant's potential for a successful career as a teacher and researcher.
