The research involves antibiotic in the external environment and effects on antibiotic resistance.The group consists of 6 postdoctoral fellows, 4 PhD students and a technician.The group receives financial support from several funding bodies, including the Swedish Research Council, Formas, Mistra, SIDA, the Environmental Protection Agency and other sources.


Description of work: The fellow is expected to conduct studies on how antibiotics in the external environment affect the development and spread of resistance factors in sediment, water, soil and human gut microflora.The work is expected to include isolation of DNA/RNA, culturing of bacteria, cloning and transformation, a variety of molecular biology methods as well as bioinformatic and statistical analyses of sequence data.The fellow is also expected to participate in the supervision of PhD students and other students, the preparation of research grant applications, writing scientific papers and, to a limited extent, teaching.


Qualifications: PhD in relevant area, such as microbiology, and good scientific output in relation to the time passed since completing PhD.Extensive experience of practical laboratory work with bacteria and an in-depth knowledge of molecular biology techniques.Excellent communicative skills particularly regarding scientific communication in English, both spoken and written, a high degree of independence in the lab, a developed way of critical thinking, documented creativity, as well as ability to work successfully in a group.
