Do you have a PhD in techno-economic analysis, life cycle assessment or systems analysis and have a genuine interest in food production or processing? Then you are the right person for us!
About the role
We are in search of a postdoctoral fellow to plan and perform research linked to the research centre FINEST (Food Innovation Enabling Sustainable Transition), funded by FORMAS the Swedish Research Council for sustainable development (https://www.
ri.se/en/finest). Your research task within FINEST will be linked to the development of sustainability indicators to guide research in food production, as well as stakeholders in industry, from an early development phase to implementation. In close collaboration with other researchers, you will plan and perform a postdoctoral research project focusing on developing and validating methods for the evaluation of novel, resource efficient, and more circular food chains. Based on the overall project idea, you are expected to take responsibility for the final design of the postdoctoral project and project deliverables; this will include establishing necessary internal and external contacts required for the project to succeed.
You will be assisted by senior scientists within the team of Sustainable Consumption and Production, providing key expertise on environmental assessments of food and food processing. The work will be performed together with the FINEST partners, thus, providing you with a network of innovative food companies, highly interested in bringing your research into concrete action. You will also benefit from networks and knowledge transfer from both internal and external projects at RISE, whereof several – including FINEST – engage both academic and industrial partners. The position is a full-time employment at RISE for 1,5 years. The location will be in Lund (preferably) or Gothenburg. Part of the work will be carried out on site at a regional food cluster situated close to Lund.
Who are you?

You are motivated and take initiatives; you enjoy working in a team but are also capable of working independently. Your PhD is in an area relevant to techno-economic analysis, LCA or systems analysis, and preferably you have graduated within the last three years. You have experience and knowledge of Multicriteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), Life cycle assessment (LCA) and/or techno-economic analysis. Experience or knowledge of life cycle costing (LCC) and social sustainability aspects are meriting, as well as experience of food industry and/or food processing. A good proficiency in spoken and written English is required. It is meriting if you speak and write Swedish, as well as being experienced in writing research applications. You have a high scientific integrity. We believe you want to work in an interdisciplinary context, and you consider societal actors such as companies, authorities, and non-governmental organizations, together with researchers, to have an important role in the transition to a sustainable society.
