Within the Department of Parasitology, Mycology, Water and Environmental Microbiology at the Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control, we invite applicants for a full-time postdoctoral or research associate position during 18 months.The aim of the position is to develop and apply computer modelling and statistical handling of the risk of infection based on exposure of variable concentration of microorganisms through environmental exposure pathways.In this, the position will build on the risk concept as expressed in the WHO Guidelines for Water and Reuse.The position will further be directly linked with the EU programme HI-WATE where the aim is to present a joint model for risk reduction due to disinfection of water and negative health effects due to the formation of disinfection-by-products (DBPs).This will further be linked to other technical and non-technical water treatment barriers.Qualifications: The main qualifications that the position candidate should have are advanced skill in risk modelling and statistical handling.In this, the candidate should master Excel- based modelling tools and applications and programming in Analytica.In addition, statistical handling directed towards variability, robustness and security analysis is necessary.You will build further on already developed model tools and work on different applications within the field of microbial and environmental risk modelling.Secondly, we value a background in science and especially microbiology, which may either be linked with the medical or the environmental field, where research experience is valued.The applicant should have good communication and facilitation skills and should be fluent in oral and written English.The applicant should also be willing to travel.A documented publication list is an asset.Information and application: This post is a temporary full-time position for 18 months.The position can be filled immediately by the right candidate.We welcome your application marked with 690/2008-55 in English.This should be accompanied by a CV, with a clear documentation of computer programming and statistical skills and if applicable a publication list.Closing date is January 20th, 2009.
