Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Department of Food Science, Uppsala Postdoctoral position Assessment of quality of beef SLU develops the understanding and sustainable use of biological natural resources.This is achieved through research, teaching, environmental monitoring and assessment and information extension.SLU has 3000 employees, 4200 undergraduate and postgraduate students.Main campuses are located at Alnarp, Skara, Uppsala and Umeå.www.slu.se The Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences is the largest of the four faculties of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Sweden.The faculty, which is located in Uppsala 70 km north of Stockholm, covers a wide range of disciplines, spanning over agriculture, food and biotechnology to natural resources, environment and landscape planning. Research environment: Research and education at the Department of Food Science focus on food composition and follow the food chain via preparation and processing of food raw materials.The composition, quality (sensory, health, safety) and functionality of food are considered in relation to primary production, processing by the food industry and the interests of the individual consumer.The research is divided into four areas; dairy products, food chemistry, meat and fish quality and plant product science (www.lmv.slu.se) and the department is part of Uppsala Biocenter at SLU (http://bioc.slu.se/).Job description: A post-doctoral position is available at the Department of Food Science to conduct research related to assessment of quality of beef with emphasis on eating quality, keepability and safety.In addition to the above research tasks the candidate will be expected to teach and supervise student projects within meat quality. Qualifications: Applicants should have a PhD in Food Science or other relevant area not older than three years.The applicant should have experience from beef research in close collaboration with the industry, as well as a good working knowledge of statistics.Experience from supervising students is also a merit.The applicant should have good communication skills and proven skills in both oral and written scientific Swedish and English.
