Research environment: Research and education at the Department of Food Science focus on food composition and follow the food chain via preparation and processing of food raw materials.The composition, quality (sensory, health, safety) and functionality of food are considered in relation to primary production, processing by the food industry and the interests of the individual consumer.The research is divided into four areas; dairy products, food chemistry, meat and fish quality and plant product science (www.lmv.slu.se) and the department is part of Uppsala Biocenter at SLU (http://bioc.slu.se/).Job description: A post-doctoral position is available at the Department of Food Science to conduct research related to assessment of quality of beef with emphasis on eating quality, keepability and safety.In addition to the above research tasks the candidate will be expected to teach and supervise student projects within meat quality. Qualifications: Applicants should have a PhD in Food Science or other relevant area not older than three years.The applicant should have experience from beef research in close collaboration with the industry, as well as a good working knowledge of statistics.Experience from supervising students is also a merit.The applicant should have good communication skills and proven skills in both oral and written scientific Swedish and English.
