Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Department of Clinical Sciences, Section for Veterinary Epidemiology, Uppsala Postdoctoral position in the field of companion animal epidemiology SLU develops knowledge about natural resources as well as social systems - everything that lives and grows.At SLU we conduct research, teach and inform about the opportunities, and possible risks incurred, when using our forests, landscapes, soils and animals in different ways.SLU offers a broad spectrum of educational programmes and single subject courses.About 3 300 undergraduates and 800 postgraduate students are enrolled at SLU.A total of 3 000 people are employed at the University.Main campuses are located at Alnarp, Skara, Ultuna and Umeå.Research and teaching activities are carried out throughout the country. www.slu.se The Department of Clinical Sciences, Section for Veterinary Epidemiology, invites applicants for a one-year (with possibility for prolongation) full-time postdoctoral position in the field of companion animal epidemiology.The research will be based on existing secondary databases and possible areas of research are specific diseases, as well as association studies between disease phenotypes and breeds of dogs.The successful candidate is expected to work closely with colleagues in a multidisciplinary group and to develop a research program within the research area of companion animal epidemiology.The position is for one year, starting October 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter.The salary is negotiated individually.Eligibility and qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in veterinary medicine or another relevant area, with experience in analytical epidemiology, and a strong interest in research in companion animals.The applicant should have good communication skills and proven skills in both oral and written scientific English.Documents that should be included in the application: CV, publication list, PhD diploma, copies of no more than five publications.A short description (2-4 pages) of previous research, current research interests and other activities of relevance for the position.Telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of at least two referees should be included.All application documents should be written in English.SLU is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
