The Mijakovic lab at Chalmers SysBio is advertising a postdoctoral position in bacterial protein phosphorylation and signalling. The contract duration is 24 months.
Information about the project
The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to work on protein-tyrosine phosphorylation in the model bacterium Bacillus subtilis. The object of research is the B. subtilis protein-tyrosine kinase PtkA, and the aim of the project is to investigate how this kinase is activated by different protein interactants. The postdoctoral fellow will join a productive interdisciplinary research environment at Chalmers SysBio. Major responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated individual, driven by scientific curiosity and capable of driving their own research project independently. The candidate is expected to actively collaborate with other members of the Mijakovic lab. The work will comprise protein biochemistry, genetic engineering, phospho-proteomics and depending on the candidate's preference, can also include computational modeling of cellular regulation involving PtkA.
Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. The position may include teaching on undergraduate and master's levels as well as supervising master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.
Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry or a related discipline. The degree should generally not be older than three years.
You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.
We also see that you have:
Strong publication record (1st authorships in peer-reviewed publications).
Experience with basic bacteriology techniques, gene cloning, protein overexpression and protein purification.
Advanced scientific writing skills, ability to write peer reviewed papers independently.
Meritorious experience and skills:
Experience with genetics of Bacillus subtilis.
Experience with MS proteomics.
