The research subject Human Work Science seeks to employ a postdoctoral fellow to further strengthen research on the green transition of basic industries with a special focus on gender and equality. The research project is part of the university's priority research areas Natural Resources for a Sustainable Urban Transformation (SUN). Subject description
Human Work Science includes research on work environment, technology and production systems, work organization, and/or other social processes from humans’ conditions and needs in order to create safe and attractive work and socially sustainable development in working life, industry and society.

Project description
The research project concerns the green transition of male dominated basic industries and its impact on work organizations, qualifications and professional identities from a gender and equality perspective. The postdoctoral fellow adjoins an already ongoing study that, drawing on theories of gender and organization, explores the green transition and its impact on geologists and geoengineers in the mining industry. To broaden and complement the project we now look for a corresponding study, that will focus wholly or partly on the forest industry and foresters.

In dialogue with the project leader, you as a postdoc are expected to design, conduct and present an empirically based study with conclusions and theories relevant to the themes of the research project. The proposed research should be based on critical theories of gender and work, while the knowledge can form the basis for more practical analyses and recommendations. Within the framework of the position, there is also the opportunity to participate in other ongoing research projects with a gender study focus, for example on mining, steel industry and trade, as well as to design and participate in research applications and commissioned projects on gender, work and organization.

Duties
As a postdoctoral researcher you will primarily carry out research. Teaching and pedagogical development work are included in the duties corresponding to 20% of working hours. You will carry out work science gender research on the transformation of basic industries that should be published in international research journals. The duties also include contributing to the subject's research environment and applications for future research projects, as well as collaborating with doctoral students and senior researchers.

Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as postdoctoral researcher you must have a PhD or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD in work science or a social science or technical subject with relevance to work science. A doctoral degree awarded no more than three years before the application deadline provides a useful qualification. Candidates who have been awarded a doctoral degree at an earlier date may also be considered if there are special grounds, for example, different types of statutory leave of absence.

In addition, the research assignment requires knowledge of gender theory and gender analysis, as well as an understanding of gender, work and organization in male-dominated industries.
