The Department has 76 faculty members and enrolls about 70 PhD students from more than 30 countries. The research will be performed in the Networks and Systems division and the computer security group. This includes security research for vehicles connected to the Internet, ICT in the smart grid, Cyber-Physical systems, Cloud Computing, Embedded systems, Operating systems and Mobile systems. The department is very actively involved in many European and national projects including ERC grants and has many links to the industry.

Major responsibilities
We are looking for an excellent, motivated, self-driven post-doctoral researcher to work in the area of cryptography with a focus on privacy-preserving biometrics. The position is for 12 months and located at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in Katerina Mitrokotsa's research group. More precisely, the researcher will be employed in the European FP7 project BEAT (Biometric Evaluation and Testing). The researcher is expected to investigate and analyse the security and privacy of existing privacy-preserving biometric authentication systems against different types of attacks and propose new ones robust to the identified weaknesses.

The research will be performed in the Networks and Systems division and the computer security group.
The Post-doctoral position is an appointment that offers an opportunity to qualify for further research positions within academia or industry. The majority of your working time is devoted to your own research, normally as a member of a research group. Included in your work is also to take part in supervision of Ph.D. students and M.Sc thesis students. Teaching of undergraduate students may also be included to a small extent.
Position summary
Full-time temporary employment for one year and may be extended to one more year.
Qualifications
The applicant should have Ph.D. degree preferably in information security, computer science, cryptography or equivalent by the start of the appointment; the degree should generally not be older than three years. Experience in security communication protocols, provable security, homomorphic encryption, zero-knowledge proofs, privacy-preservation and biometric authentication is highly valued. Fluency in written and spoken English is a strong requirement. As a post-doctoral researcher you are expected to work independently and to be able to supervise/co-supervise PhD and Master’s students.
