Become a part of a research team who has developed the world first rechargeable cement-based batteries. When integrated in the concrete elements of buildings, these batteries can be powered by solar energy and enable self-powered buildings in e.g. remote areas. As a postdoc, you will have the opportunity to improve these batteries and make them charged by organic photovoltaics.
Project description
This is a two-year position in a transdisciplinary team. You will spend the first year at Building Materials research group, Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Your second year will be at Ergang Wang's group, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. This arrangment offers excellent opportunities to develop your academic skills and networks, whilst scientifically contributing to the cutting-edge technologies for energy saving in buildings.
Your major responsibility as a postdoctoral fellow is to pursue your research while being an active member in the other research projects in the group. This includes developing scientific concepts and communicating research results both verbally and in writing.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have a PhD degree awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline (according to the current agreement with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers) in electrochemistry, experimental physics, materials science/engineering, and experience in the research field related to electrochemical energy storage and solar enery conversion. Knowledge on cementitious materials is a merit.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
