Information about the project
The Department of Technology Management and Economics is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral position ('postdoc') in Supply Chain Management with particular emphasis on business relationships and networks. The Department of Technology Management and Economics has a strong reputation for research and teaching within Innovation and entrepreneurship, Operations management and Supply chain management. This position is critical in enhancing this reputation, in developing the learning experience offered to students, and in contributing to effective utilization of research outcome.
The position is affiliated to the Division of Industrial Marketing. The research at the division deals with business relationships and networks in business markets. The division takes the selling firm's perspective and the buying firm's perspective and focuses for example on supply networks, distribution networks and customer relationships. Very importantly, focus is set on the interaction and the business relationships among sellers and buyers in business markets. What is joint for the research at the division is the theoretical points of departure of the industrial network approach (also referred to as the IMP - Industrial Marketing and Purchasing literature). The division benefits from close collaboration with the Transport Area of Advance at Chalmers (chalmers.se/en/areas-of-advance/Transport) and the research centre Northern LEAD (www.northernlead.se).
The postdoc will be key in further developing the profile area Supply Chain Management. A new project is just to start up in which the postdoc is to be involved. This project deals with collaboration with industrial partners in the truck and automation business and concerns issues related to future sustainable transport solutions. One part of the project is to map and identify scenarios including new technologies, involved actors, their interactions and business models for sustainable transport solutions. Another part of the project is to focus more specifically on the role of services and maintenance in relation to identified transport solutions. The project is financed by FFI - Strategic Vehicle Research and Innovation.
We aim at performing research of high academic standard in the areas of industrial marketing and purchasing and supply chain management. Related to our field of research, we teach courses at doctoral, master's and bachelor levels. We also aim for formulating implications for practice regarding efficiency improvements or innovation.
The division has several ongoing research projects and conducts research in several different empirical fields. Often a case study methodology is used.
Major responsibilities
The primary duty as a postdoc researcher is to perform own research, generally as a member of a research group and to publish the results in ranked scientific journals.
•The position includes teaching for about 20 percent of your working hours, primarily in the master program Supply Chain Management. Included in your work is also to take part in supervision of M.Sc. thesis students. To be responsible for designing a course element on industrial purchasing to a certain extent may also be included.
•Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia, industry and with society at large. The research requires the applicant to interact with industry, have ability to plan and organize the work, and be able to communicate the scientific results, both to the public and industry and very importantly through scientific publications.
Position summary
