Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Department of Energy and Technology, Uppsala Postdoctoral researcher Handling, storage and upgrading of wood fuel SLU develops the understanding and sustainable use of biological natural resources.This is achieved through research, teaching, environmental monitoring and assessment and information extension.SLU has 3 000 employees, 4 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students.Main campuses are located at Alnarp, Skara, Uppsala and Umeå.www.slu.se www.et.slu.se The Department of Energy and Technology at SLU educates and develops new knowledge within the fields of technology, bioenergy and biometry aiming at a sustainable use of biological resources.The department has about 45 employees and is located at Ultuna, Uppsala The division of bioenergy, at the Department of Energy and Technology, conducts basic and applied research, covering areas within the production and supply chain of solid biofuel from forest/farmland.The ongoing research focuses on plantations, procurement, storage, upgrading, conversion and system analysis.The Department has modern lab facilities used to characterise the biomass and determine fuel quality.The division works in a close collaboration with relevant industry sector and forest research institutes.Work description: The successful candidates will join a multidisciplinary team of scientist working on enhancing the quality of woody biomass as a fuel.The responsibilities of the researcher/postdoc include contribution to ongoing research within the area of bioenergy-wood fuel supply chain.Our main work is focused on biomass properties, handling, storage, upgrading and improvement of fuel quality.In addition to the main research tasks, the successful candidate is expected to participate in post graduate education within the bioenergy/solid biofuel area.Qualifications: The applicant should hold a PhD in forestry, technology biology.Research experience in fields related to solid biofuels such as biomass properties, supply chain management and upgrading is a merit.Special emphasis will be placed on scientific qualifications and documented knowledge within the subject area.It is desirable that the applicant has good skills in cooperation and international networking as well as the capacity to pursue her/his own research ideas.Experience in supervising students is also a merit.To be appointed as a postdoc, applicant should have been awarded her/his Ph D no more than three years ago at the time of application.Applicant awarded PhD degree more than three years ago can be appointed as a researcher.The position is full-time and will be granted for a period of two years, starting as soon as possible.SLU is an equal opportunity employer.The application should be written in English.Please submit your application to the Registrar of SLU, P.O.
