The Department of Clinical Neuroscience (CNS) conducts research and education in the field of neuroscience from the molecular level to the society level. A position as postdoctoral research fellow is open in a project located at the Therapeutic Immune Design (TID) research group Center for Molecular Medicine, Karolinska University hospital.

Division


The TID research group, headed by assoc. professor Hans Grönlund, is working on diagnostics and curative treatments of chronic inflammatory diseases and cancer. As a member of the Center for Molecular Medicine, a stimulating international research environment with cutting edge science is offered. The group consists of 10-12 members including senior researchers, post docs, research fellows and students with a mixed gender and age composition. The project will focus on autologous cell transfer immunotherapy of cancer. It is a translational project focused on preparing techniques and processes for a Phase I/IIa clinical trial.

Duties


The postdoctoral research fellow will have a shared responsibility for the practical execution of the project, combining immunological competence with practical cell culture skills. The project include hands-on cell culturing and cell evaluation by standard immunological techniques, in particular flow cytometry. Management of clinical samples from cancer patients, as well as processing, interpretation and documentation of experimental data will be important tasks. The applicant will participate in common activities of the research group, e.g. group meetings, journal clubs and lab management.

Entry requirements


A person is eligible for a position as postdoctoral research fellow if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.

We are looking for a highly motivated person with the ability to work independently and as part of our team. Extensive experience of cell isolation, culturing and analysis is mandatory. The applicant should have a solid background in human immunology, while previous experience/knowledge of clinical studies is a merit. Good communication skills and proficiency in both spoken and written English are mandatory.
