Arbetsbeskrivning
Do you have experience in image processing, mathematical/statistical modeling in materials science, and/or mass transport properties in soft porous materials? Do you enjoy working in projects all of which focus on a demand-driven technology development linked to societal and industrial challenges? Then we have an exciting opportunity for you!
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher within digitalized design of porous materials to join our team in Gothenburg.
We offer an attractive workplace and a highly multidisciplinary environment. We conduct state of the art research in combining imaging and characterization techniques, image processing, statistical and mathematical modeling, machine learning, and computational materials science to design soft porous materials that meet the functionality and sustainability needs of tomorrow.
About the role
The project is a collaboration between RISE, Chalmers University of Technology, and multiple industrial partners, focused on accelerating materials development and benefit Swedish industry through increased digitalization of the design process. The aim is to develop and implement analysis methods for imaging and other materials characterization data, spatial models for different types of materials such as fibrous and granular media, and model their properties using computational methods and statistics.
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be given an independent role while being part of a closely collaborating research team consisting of experts in mathematical statistics, applied mathematics, chemistry, physics, materials science, and pharmaceutics. The work will include conducting research and communicating the research at conferences and in project meetings as well as publishing in scientific journals. The placement for this position is Gothenburg.
Who are you?
As a Postdoctoral Researcher with us at RISE, we believe that you are committed and driven. You are well-organized and have an interest in scientifically and dynamically searching for solutions to complex questions, where you may also involve the team. You are expected to pursue a vigorous research program and collaborate with our researchers and the partners in the project. You are expected to contribute to the project at all stages: planning, execution, reporting, implementation, scientific publishing, and communicating and building relations with partners and stakeholders.
You have a PhD in applied mathematics, mathematical statistics, or similar. Earlier experience in research and/or development projects and work specifically within mathematical modelling in materials science is considered meritorious. You have excellent communication skills in English and proficiency in Swedish is desirable.
Are we right for each other?
We cannot promise you an easy task, but we can promise you dedicated colleagues and some truly engaging societal challenges to tackle. You will get to work in a dynamic environment offering professional and personal development opportunities. At RISE, we want you to succeed and feel good, because together with your colleagues you contribute to a sustainable future and to securing a leading position for Swedish industry and research globally. RISE can give you the chance to make a real difference. Welcome to Sweden’s Research Institute and Innovation Partner.
