We are looking to fill a two-year position as Postdoctoral researcher in palaeogenomics. The postdoc will be supervised by Dr. David Diez-del-Molino at the Centre for Palaeogenetics (palaeogenetics.com), a joint venture between the Swedish Museum of Natural History and Stockholm University. The position is funded by an ERC Consolidator project aimed at investigating mammoth bone accumulations in Central Europe.




ARBETSUPPGIFTER
The postdoc will conduct both laboratory work and computational analyses of palaeogenomic data from woolly mammoth remains. The aim is to genetically characterize the individuals and groups represented in these bone accumulations as well as to track population genomic diversity changes through time. In addition to this project, the postdoc will be encouraged to expand their research profile by developing new projects, applying for third-party funding, supervising students, and lecturing at university courses.



KVALIFIKATIONER
The ideal candidate for this position is a creative and independent researcher with a PhD degree in genetics, biology, bioinformatics, or another relevant field. Depending on when the candidate defended their PhD thesis, the official employment will either be as a postdoc or researcher. A record of scientific pulications and achievements in bioinformatics and computational genomics is essential, as is previous experience in handling NGS data using scripts and analysis pipelines. The ideal candidate should be responsible, analytical, structured and cooperative in the approach to research questions. Additional relevant merits include:

• Experience in population genomics and computational analysis of ancient genomic data.
• Proficiency in wet lab analyses of ancient DNA samples.
• Experience working in a Unix environment and excellent programming skills (Bash, R, Python, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills in English and experience presenting research in public forums.
