The research group, located at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Karolinska Institutet, is dedicated to understanding the etiology and long term consequences of preterm birth with special focus on psychiatric outcomes.
A second arm in our research focus is women's health.
Your mission
The research program aims specifically to gain a comprehensive understanding of the determinants and health consequences of pre- and very-term births applying statistical methods for life-course epidemiological analyses. We are using epidemiological data from the Nordic countries as well as a longitudinal cohort study of approximately 50,000 women with repeatedly collected information on lifestyle factors and medical conditions.
The postdoctoral researcher should have good background in medicine, sufficient experience in analyzing longitudinal cohort studies and register-based studies from the Nordic countries, and be interested in contributing to an interdisciplinary research group.
Your profile
Applicants should have (1) a PhD degree in medicine and health sciences, (2) experience in performing large-scale data analysis, (3) knowledge in using standard statistical software (SAS, R, Stata) and (4) experience in analyzing register-based data from the Nordic countries. Research knowledge of outcomes potentially co-occurring with psychiatric outcomes may be beneficial. A track record in writing scientific publications in English is required.
The applicant should be highly collegial, experienced in working in multidisciplinary context, possess exceptional communication and organizational skills, and know how to successfully multitask. A background in medicine and other languages, especially Swedish or Nordic languages, and knowledge about the health systems and recording of national data in the Nordic countries is beneficial.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
