Arbetsbeskrivning
As a Postdoc researcher in Sustainable User Behaviour, you will be part of a team of design-, architecture-, engineering- and innovation researchers with a passion for user-centred processes towards a more sustainable and circular built environment. The position involves both theoretical and practical work. During the duration of the employment, a solution will be developed based on the identified innovation opportunity and pilot-tested in-situ in our HSB Living Lab to assess the solutions’ effectiveness and attractiveness to the target group. The results of the evaluation will provide recommendations on how to prepare the solution for an up-scale- implementation together with our project partners.
Information about the division
The Division of Building Technology consists of four research groups: Building Materials, Building Physics, Infrastructure Physics and Sustainable building. Within the research group Sustainable building, the main focus lies on developing methods and tools for sustainability assessment and their application to improve buildings and infrastructure projects and occupants’ comfort. We are offering an inspiring work environment with a mixture of PhD students, Postdocs and senior researchers with different educational as well as cultural backgrounds. We are engaged in several global initiatives related to the occupants' comfort, user behaviour and building performance, such as the International Energy Agency Annex 79 Occupant-Centric Building Design and Operation.
Major responsibilities
As a Postdoc researcher, you will develop energy and consumption research with a focus on the individual end-user. To achieve this, analyses of people’s broader consumption patterns and their systemic effects, as well as analyses of qualitative and quantitative studies for sustainable consumption behaviour, will be carried out. You will be part of the international ERA-Net project team and is expected to be able to and experienced with addressing the end-users as real demand owners and to research, develop and incorporate behavioural change elements.
Specific responsibilities include the supervision of Master- and PhD students and writing of research applications. The position will be financed by the ongoing ERA-Net project I-GRETA. In the case that subsequent funding will be granted through own engagement, the position also entails strategic development of the field Design for Sustainable User Behaviour beyond the borders of the funding project, which comprises initiation of new research, networking and integration of user-centred matters over the research subject group's different research areas. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.
Contract terms
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field; ideally crossing the borders between Behavioural Sciences and Design/Architecture. You need an ability to present and compose academic findings in English and knowledge of statistical analysis. It is beneficial if you have experience in cross-cultural and interdisciplinary research projects, preferably in European and non-European environments. You need a high proficiency level in user studies and the analysis and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative results.
Knowledge in sustainability and circularity in the built environment and life-cycle adaptation is meritorious. Relevant experience in research projects in the context of sustainable and circular resource and energy consumption is also beneficial. Further, knowledge of the Swedish language is an advantage, Chalmers also offers Swedish courses.
