We are looking for an ambitious postdoc with solid B cell, hantavirus and BSL-3 laboratory skills to join our team.
https://ki.se/en/medh/jonas-klingstrom-group studies the mechanisms behind hantavirus pathogenesis. We focus on the capacity of hantaviruses to affect normal cell signaling and functions, especially cell death, immune and inflammatory responses.
Your mission
Our mission is to generate a better understanding of the details of hantavirus-induced pathogenesis to aid in the development of specific treatment of patients. In particular, the postdoc will continue the line of investigations analyzing how hantaviruses impact B cells and other immune cells, utilizing both in vitro-experiments in BSL3-laboratory and multicolor flow cytometry of patient material.
The postdoc will be a part of the Center for Infectious Medicine (CIM), Karolinska Institutet, which is a nationally leading and internationally competitive center for human translational immunology and infectious diseases research. The center consists of approximately 25 graduate students and 25 postdocs organized around 14 independent research groups.
Your profile
The candidate must hold a PhD equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree in the field of virology and/or immunology. The candidate must fully master multidimensional flow cytometry analysis, as well as be highly experienced in in vitro hantavirus and B cell infectious experiments in BSL3-laboratory. Experience in isolation and in vitro culturing of primary immune cells is a requirement, as is basic functional in vitro assessments of immune cell function such as intracellular cytokine stainings, ELISA etc. The candidate should have a strong publication track-record. The candidate should be self-motivated, have good communications skills and a proven ability to interact effectively and work productively in an interdisciplinary team. Fluency in English is a requirement.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
