Your team
You will join the ForMAX beamline, which is designed for multiscale structural characterization of materials from nm to mm length scales by combining SWAXS and full-field tomographic imaging.
A particular focus of the beamline is the development of new materials and specialty chemicals from forest raw material, contributing towards our transition to a sustainable, bio-based economy.
You will also be part of the Smart Science Cluster at ReMade@ARI, a team of 18 scientists at European analytical research infrastructures.

MAX IV is looking for a postdoctoral candidate for the EU project ReMade@ARI.
ReMade@ARI is a project under Horizon Europe, aiming at accelerating the transition to a circular economy by initiating a paradigm shift in research on materials with a high reuse potential. Forty operators of world-class analytical research infrastructures from the ARIE network have joined forces to create a unique platform for materials research for the circular economy, providing unprecedented all-round services for users from academia and from industry. You will be responsible for supporting these user projects with SWAXS.
Your main work tasks will be
- Support of user projects within ReMade@ARI in terms of planning and carrying out experiments as well as analyzing the data
- Lead a research project related to SWAXS, that will lead to scientific publications and foster the career of the postdoctoral researcher
- Participate in the operation and further development of the beamline, together with the rest of the ForMAX team.
To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications
- PhD degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, or another relevant subject.
- Documented expertise in SWAXS, including data analysis.
- Ability to work independently and take initiatives.
- Strong social and communication skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English.

- Working experience with materials relevant for ReMade@ARI.
- Experience in scanning SWAXS imaging and/or full-field tomographic imaging.
- Skills in programming.
- Previous work experience at a research facility.

This is a 3-year temporary position as PostDoc.
Eligibility
Appointment to the position of postdoc requires that the applicant has a PhD or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the application deadline. Under special circumstances the PhD can have been completed previous to the aforementioned three years.
Further information
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment. A postdoctoral fellow is employed under a period
of at least two years and at most three years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor-2022-02-01” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow, 2022-02-01”)

MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. It will receive up to 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.
