Umeå University - with its 29,000 students and over 4,000 employees - is an organisation in constant change and development.The university's researchers carry out excellence within several areas of research, and many of them are among the world's elite.We are one of Sweden's largest providers of education and offer a broad and attractive range of courses and programmes.Our campus constitutes an inspiring environment for everyone that studies and works here.We wish to co-operate with companies and organisations throughout the Umeå region and all over the world.Postdoctoral scholar (100%, one-year) with a focus on social and economic geography, and environmental psychology The Department of Social and Economic Geography at Umeå University is an interdisciplinary research environment of around 40 employees.The Department focuses on several areas, including environmental planning (for more information, please go to: www8.umu.se/soc_econ_geography).The position will focus on demographic change and population distribution and its effects on people's attitudes, values and utilization of the forest landscape for different purposes.Based on cohort specific surveys and interviews, the position will identify specific focus areas of the framework, such as for instance the potential conflict between different objective and perceived values related to the forest resource.The specific in-depth study areas will be defined in cooperation with the Future Forest programme at large, in order to view areas that may be of particular importance in adapting Swedish forest use to future stresses such as climate change and globalisation.The position is a one-year appointment.Potential applicants will have an interdisciplinary interest in the integration or cooperation between human geography and psychology.To be qualified for the position the applicant shall have a doctoral degree in social and economic geography or in psychology.The exam must have been obtained within the past 3 years.In evaluating the applicants special attention will be paid to scientific skills.In addition, the ability to work with colleagues, other departments, and society at large is highly valued.When considering the applicants the equality law, the university equality policy and the department policy will be followed.The application should include three signed copies of your resume and certified copies of any degrees and grades.Provide a short written description of your scientific work and teaching experience.In addition, provide two copies of your scientific material and other documentation as desired.Applications will be discarded or, if the applicant so wishes, returned two years after the position has been filled.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.
