Arbetsbeskrivning
Are you passionate about advancing the frontier of organic electronics? At Chalmers University of Technology, we offer you the opportunity to work in a cutting-edge research environment, using state-of-the-art molecular dynamics and DFT simulations to design innovative materials. Join us in a collaborative project that not only pushes the boundaries of scientific knowledge but also has the potential to impact real-world applications in organic electronics.
Project description
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the study of conjugated polymers, which are organic semiconductors characterized by π molecular orbitals delocalized along the polymer chain. These polymers exhibit unique electronic and optical properties, making them integral to a wide range of applications in organic electronics.
The primary objective of this project is to employ molecular dynamics calculations and density functional theory (DFT) simulations to enhance molecular design. This work will focus on predicting polymer chain interactions and material properties, with the goal of advancing our understanding and development of innovative materials.
Information about the research group
The research group "Polymer Chemistry and Electronics" leading by Professor Ergang Wang at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has a focus on the synthesis and characterization of conjugated materials and 2D materials for applications in organic solar cells, organic field effect transistors (OFETs), organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and supercapacitors. We strive to be a “collaborative, creative and dynamic” group. Academic freedom, interdisciplinary research, entrepreneurship and making societal impact, are key factors in our work. We strive to offer an environment where you can combine world leading research and teaching with a good work-life balance.
Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as a postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group and high quality scientific results are expected. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector. You are expected to develop your own scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research verbally and in writing in English.
Qualifications
Candidates with a strong background in molecular simulations, particularly in the context of conjugated polymers or organic semiconductors, are highly encouraged to apply. Prior research experience in related fields will be highly valued.
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must hold a doctoral degree awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline (according to the current agreement with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers). Exceptions from the 3-year limit can be made for longer periods resulting from parental leave, sick leave or military service*.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.
* The date shown in your doctoral degree certificate is the date we use, as this is the date you have met all requirements for the doctoral degree.
Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
