Lund University Diabetes Centre (LUDC); http://www.ludc.med.lu.se is one of 20 strong research programmes in Sweden to be awarded the 10-year Linnaeus grant by the Swedish Research Council in 2006.The aim of LUDC is to identify strategies for slowing disease progression in diabetes and, ultimately, to prevent the disease.The participating groups are all internationally renowned and form one of the strongest diabetes research environments world-wide.The position is administrated by the Department of Clinical Sciences Malmö, and is situated at the Clinical Research Centre, Malmö.Post-doctor in epigenetic diabetes research Reference No: 2010/1244 Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral researcher in the abovementioned project.The post holder will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator who in turn is responsible to the LUDC board.The proposed start date is September 2010.Work assignments include research work related to the project ?Impact of epigenetic factors on type 2 diabetes and its complications?.Qualifications PhD degree, no earlier than three years before the date of advertisement (max 3 years).This period is extended correspondingly by parental leave, clinical service, and certain commissions of trust. Particular importance is given to scientific excellence in the field of epigenetic studies within type 2 diabetes research.Prior experience of epigenetic research, clinical studies, molecular and cell biological methods is required.Strong experience in and knowledge of diabetes research, genome-wide and specific analysis of DNA methylation, histone modifications and gene expression and bioinformatic and statistical analysis are highly desirable.The applicant should also have experience and skills to supervise collaborators including supervision of doctoral students, and independent research work.The successful candidate is expected to stay updated on the progress of research within LUDC and to actively participate in common activities, e.g.to disseminate own results within the consortium and to assist other projects experimentally or intellectually.The ability to cooperate and take initiatives, accuracy and flexibility are also an advantage.
