The group (Power Conversion Design & Validation) consists of two scrum teams driving the development of competitive power conversion solutions. What you’ll do
The Electric Drivetrain Department designs the heart of the Electric Car – the Electric Drive Unit that provides power to the wheels. We design electronics, electric motors, and transmissions with a high attention to sustainability and energy efficiency, aiming for world’s best electric drives.
We are now expanding our capability in the Power Electronics design. We are therefore looking for a Power Electronics Designer to join our in-house electronics design team at our Headquarters in Gothenburg.
Design (DC/DC & AC/DC) Power Electronics. Modelling and simulations on both electronic circuit level and system level including multi-physics (electrical, thermal, mechanical etc). Design and analysis of semiconductors as well as electromagnetic components component (eg. inductors, transformers, capacitors) including simulation of high frequency characteristics, sizing, and selection.
Taking part in test and verification activities including fault-tracing, bring-up, regular test case verification together with our testers.
Gather and document knowledge in design documentation such as schematics, design descriptions and design guidelines. Share knowledge and experiences with other team members.
What you will bring
We believe you have a university degree in Electrical Engineering or similar, preferably towards power electronics. You have solid experience from working with power electronics design (some LV analog circuit design) within automotive or industrial applications, as well as knowledge in modern electronics design and simulation tools such as Matlab, Simulink, PLECS, PSpice, Altium or ANSYS. Knowledge in power circuit analysis, such as worse-case circuit analysis, failure method effectivity & criticality / reliability, prototyping equipment is meritorious. Good EMC Knowledge also.
On a personal level, you are a highly motivated and reliable team player with a positive attitude. You are used to taking initiative and like to share your passion and knowledge with others. Your also have an analytical way of approaching challenges, you enjoy being challenged and has a flexible mindset
All Volvo Cars design work is carried out in Agile design teams. Being a team player with utilizing efficient Collaboration with team members and other stake holders is therefore a key enabler to be successful in the role.
