Organization
e-Power Nordic AB (ePower) was established in 2011 by Kongsberg Automotive and Swedish electronics company QRTECH. Earlier this year Kongsberg Automotive decided to increase its commitment to and capabilities within electric- and hybrid powertrains by acquiring 100% ownership in ePower. QRTECH continuously engage as ePower's long term partner.
ePower aims to excel in the field of power electronics, meeting stringent requirements regarding quality, low weight and high power density. Combined with Kongsberg Automotives track record and full in-house electronics manufacturing capabilities, ePower aims to become a preferred supplier in an immature, but very attractive market. ePower has a unique and tight-knit team of electronics and mechanical engineers who work in parallel with production engineers, enabling fast performance and short lead times. Almost all work is done in-house, including prototypes.
Kongsberg Automotive provides world class products to the global vehicle industry. Our products enhance the driving experience, making it safer, more comfortable and sustainable. The company, with total revenues of approximately one billion Euros, is headquartered in Kongsberg, Norway and has more than 10.000 employees in 20 countries worldwide.
Job profile
The Power Electronics System Design Engineer is a key role in the development of power electronics products. It is overall responsible to develop concepts and systems of complete power electronics component based on input of vehicle electronics architecture and performance requirements. The role will require travel in the support of sales, marketing and customer project activities. Customer interaction both for marketing of our abilities as well as to clarify and fully understand our customer's interests are required.
Areas of responsibility
. Jointly, as a part of the ePower team, develop unique knowledge about power electronics for hybrid and electrical drivelines for the automotive industry. Great products to emerge from that team interaction.
. Follow the Knowledge Based Development (KBD) process used by Kongsberg Automotive. KBD a 'test first, then design' methodology, with a simple structure of concurrent, similar blocks. Big blocks - system designs - are made from smaller blocks - sub-system designs.
. Doing the big blocks - system designs - that are based on small blocks - sub-system designs. Challenging sub-system designs by defining product objectives of systems. Aiming safe sub-system solutions are combined into a system design built, assuring success vs. product development objectives and milestones.
. Validate the system design by test of the power electronics and mechatronics - proof of concept. All learning feed into future design work.
Personal tasks
. Optimization of the power electronics HW within defined design space of every product.
. Part of creation of product description of a system design (BOM, wiring diagram, topology, layout etc).
. Close interaction with other engineers to ensure function, performance and high power density of the system designs.
. Input forming the product offer to be fit, sellable and attractive to the market, but also be adaptive and open to customer requests
. Understand the hybrid/electric vehicle architectures, show competency and handle deep discussions with customers.
