Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
Volvo Cars has created world-changing innovations since the first Volvo rolled off the production line in 1927. Since then, we have been designing cars that put people first and we are truly on a great journey towards going fully electric by 2030! Each and one of us, both as people and as a collective, are bringing our wide range of know-how to making it happen! And the truth is… We would never be able to succeed if it weren’t for all those diverse competencies and skills of our people.
So, as part of Volvo Cars Electrification Strategy, The Power Electronics department within Vehicle Propulsion is now in the need to expand its capability and we are now in the search for our next person to join us as a Technical Specialist.

We expect you to maintain your personal expertise in the area and follow the research frontier to cover competitors, suppliers, and academics to understand what we need to focus on to stay ahead. You will be making sure the knowledge spreads within the organization by mentoring, coaching and by delivering education within the area.
You will be an important advisor within the specialist area support and actively co-operate with other experts to ensure we identify and remove roadblocks from our strategic development plan.
By reviewing the Volvo organization cross-functionally on requirements, specifications, verification and validation methods and equipment you will ensure that we are doing what is best for Volvo Cars. Furthermore, if needed, you will also support Corporate Communication with press events and interviews.
You and your skills
To be a good match for this role, we believe you have a minimum of a Master of Science degree within electrical engineering, physics or equivalent and excellent English skills both verbally and in writing. PhD. Degree in relevant area is also considered as a merit. We see it fit that you have an in-depth technical knowledge of Power Electronics technology including development tools and processes, and a demonstrated personal contribution (development programs, papers, patens, etc.) within the area.
