The Accelerator Division at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for Power System Engineer.
Description of directorate/division
The Accelerator Division is responsible for the design, construction, commissioning and operation of the ESS accelerator. The pulsed superconducting linac, to be built in Lund, will produce a 5 MW average power proton beam, driving the worlds´s most powerful neutron source. The RF group is responsible for design of the RF system for the ESS accelerator. Today we counts to six people, and by the end of 2013 we aim to number 12.
Qualifications and main responsibilities
As Power System Engineer your main responsibilities will be to assist in the design, specification, procurement, and installation of the pulsed high voltage supplies needed to power the RF sources in the ESS linac. To be successful in this position we believe you have a master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent and practical experience of practical work with pulsed high voltage power systems.
It will be an advantage if you have experience of working in an industrial environment and has links with both industrial and academic partners. Experience of research work on pulsed high voltage and/or high power RF is also an advantage. An aim will be to inform the ESS technical design of novel and disruptive technologies and research relevant to the ESS accelerator baseline and future development.
Strong communication, team work and collaboration skills are a must. Your English skills are excellent both spoken and written.
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
