We are looking for a Powertrain Engineer to join us at Epiroc and develop innovative powertrain systems for our Drill rigs.
In our group we are responsible for developing the next level of Epiroc Drillings powertrain systems, we design, develop, and optimize control algorithms for our battery electric vehicles for our specific drive cycle. We also have responsibility for maintaining our todays powertrain systems such as coolers, axels, electric motors & inverter, transmission and diesel engines for battery both traditional and fully electric powertrains.
Your team
You will work in cross functional teams where you will be the R&D’s representative regarding functional development of the powertrain systems and control strategies.
We work with various cross-functional teams for software development and deployment of algorithm inside the vehicle control system. We take responsibility for test protocols and ensure safe functionality by testing it on the vehicle out on the test track.

Your mission
In this role you will work with different products and projects to further develop the performance of the drill rigs as well as implementing new solutions on rigs. The goals and targets are achieved via continuous dialogue with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders combined with development work where you have good possibilities to influence the structure of your work.
We want to further enhance our knowledge in develop test plans for powertrain test bench, HIL rig and track testing.
The world needs metals and minerals for the energy transition and we need cities that can cope with a growing population in a sustainable way. To succeed we need to speed up the shift towards a more sustainable mining and construction industry.

Your profile
To succeed within this role, we believe you have an analytical approach, a system-oriented mindset and a good understanding of powertrains and how to utilize and optimize the different functions. A good knowledge of powertrains or system design and the characteristics of them and how to combine, dimension and control them in order to find the best compromise in terms of performance, energy efficiency etc. Experience from mobile equipment and functional development is meriting. Good knowledge of functional development and a general understanding of control algorithms or dynamics is a great advantage.
For this role you need a documented background within relevant area or other highly qualified engineering background. Do you have an academic background in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering? Do you have experience in embedded controls and integration with hardware systems, powertrain and/or battery control? Have worked with HIL and real time simulations? If some of this applies to you then you can make a difference!
To enjoy the work, it is important that you have a genuine interest in technology, dare to think new and a desire to learn more about the products you are working with and the application for them. Our design work is mainly conducted in projects with both freedom and responsibility. These tasks require many contacts both internal and external, which requires good interpersonal and communications skills.
As our corporate language is English, good knowledge in English both verbal and written is required. You preferably also have knowledge in Swedish.
