Arbetsbeskrivning
Do you have expertise in pharmacokinetics and drug discovery? Would you like to apply your expertise in a global company that follows the science and turns ideas into life changing medicines? Then you could be the new colleague we are looking for!
At AstraZeneca Respiratory & Immunology, we're proud to have an outstanding workplace culture that encourages innovation and teamwork. It's our combination of curiosity and courage that drives us, inspired by the possibility of doing things that have never been done before.
We are now looking for several motivated individuals to join the team as preclinical DMPK leads at our vibrant R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden. With several openings available, we are open to candidates with a variety of DMPK experience ranging from structure-based design to PKPD modelling of a diverse range of modalities including small molecules, protein therapeutics and oligonucleotides. The career level can be adjusted to the experience of the successful candidates.
What you´ll do
In this role you would work collaboratively with drug discovery project representatives from other disciplines including medicinal chemistry / protein engineering, biology, safety and pharmaceutical sciences, to influence drug design and optimization of ADMET (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, toxicity) properties of our future drugs. It is your responsibility to ensure delivery of DMPK related activities across the drug discovery chain. These responsibilities include preclinical PK, in vitro ADME, biotransformation/bioanalysis, PKPD modelling and estimation of efficacious human doses, to early drug projects from target selection to candidate drug selection.
We believe that you have a good understanding of DMPK, and depending on background, either a solid understanding of chemistry and drug design or experience of PKPD modelling of a diverse range of modalities. We expect that you will be able to provide expert advice and interpretation of complex drug discovery data, that ultimately results in a human dose predictions following analysis of all pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic data.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
*
Deliver DMPK input and data to projects within agreed timelines and to the right quality
*
Responsible for leading all DMPK related activities, including coordinating and engaging with internal and external DMPK colleagues and collaborators on project related activities
*
Accountable, together with functions such as medicinal chemistry/protein engineering, biology and safety, for compound design and effective cross-discipline optimization throughout discovery testing cycles by balancing the properties associated with absorption, distribution, clearance and elimination to ensure that DMPK challenges are thoroughly assessed and resolved
*
Apply an understanding of DMPK and PKPD to deliver human dose predictions on projects
*
Prepare clear presentations related to the above for internal governance interactions
Essential for the role
*
Formal training or proven experience of working with pharmacokinetics
*
PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field
*
Have (at least) basic PKPD modelling skills and an understanding of drug pharmacology
*
Ability to engage and collaborate across boundaries with a problem solving attitude and focus on delivery
*
Be able to provide expert advice and interpretation of complex drug discovery data
Desirable for the role
*
Extensive experience in preclinical DMPK (10+ years)
*
Laboratory experience of bioanalysis of protein therapeutics, in vitro ADME, in vivo PK and/or in vitro/in vivo pharmacology
*
Experience in the discovery and development of protein or nucleotide therapeutics would be highly desirable
*
Extensive experience in PKPD modelling skills
*
Extensive publishing record
So what´s next?
Are you ready to make a difference? Send in your application by 20 June, 2021 at the latest, and we'll make it happen together!
