Preclinical Scientist to Chiesi R&D Sweden

Chiesi Pharmaceutical is now recruiting a Preclinical Scientist to their Biotech Unit. This is a temporary assignment starting as soon as possible with the duration of 12 month. We are looking for applicants with good scientific knowledge and industrial experience from the pharmaceutical industry, preferably with experience in development of biotech products, cell assay development and hands-on cell culture work. JOB DESCRIPTION

As Preclinical Scientist, you will be a part of the Biotech Unit and you will report to the Head of Preclinical R&D Sweden, Global Rare Diseases.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- To work in a multidisciplinary team to develop biological drug candidates and cell therapies for clinical testing
- To be responsible for development of cell-based assays to for characterization of biological drug candidates and cell therapies
- To generate Proof of Principle for biological drug candidates and cell therapies in animal models. This includes scouting
and selection of CROs and academic partners.



QUALIFICATIONS

The right candidate has a PhD, MSc or BSc in Molecular biology, in Molecular biology, Cell biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacology or adjacent field.
The right candidate has industrial experience from the pharmaceutical industry, preferably with experience in development of biotech products, and have extensive experience in cell assay development including hands-on cell culture work of mammalian cells. Experience of working with primary cell lines, especially stem cells is a plus. You have good scientific knowledge and documented experience in planning and reviewing experimental designs and also recording, organizing, data analysis and presentation of results to the project team members. It is an advantage if you have experience from managing proof of principle studies in animals at academic partners and CROs. Fluently in English both speaking and in writing is required, Swedish knowledge is a plus.

To be successful in this role you have a genuine scientific interest and feel comfortable in precipitating and present your work at in internal scientific meetings. You have the ability to effectively construct, interpret and clearly communicate data in written and oral forms and have strong statistical, analytical and problem-solving skills. You are driven and eager to learn new skills and like to work in a smaller fast-paced environment. It is very important that you are team oriented focused in collaboration. Further you are goal focused, flexible and not afraid to help-out in other areas if required. You enjoy both theoretical and practical work in the laboratory.
