The Swedish School in London is a friendly and non-selective independent school located
in Barnes and Kew. We follow the Swedish curriculum and offer education mainly in
Swedish from preschool (age 3-5) to sixth form.
Our preschool in Barnes is an open, inviting and joyful place for up to 28 children to learn
and develop. Through a mix of creative, playful and educational activities and independent
play we seek to lay the foundations for a life-long love of learning. All children and staff at
preschool spend a proportion of the day outside, both for play and educational purposes.
The school strives to be a welcoming and supportive workplace, known for its friendly and
relaxed atmosphere, as well as a flat management structure.

The position and role as Preschool Teacher
We are looking for two preschool teachers for the Autumn term 2022. The positions are
full-time and involves being responsible for a group in preschool.
As a Preschool Teacher at the Swedish School you are responsible for planning and actively
engaging in stimulating and engaging activities, documentation and evaluation
according to the Swedish curriculum. You have a child-centered approach and are able to
forge positive relationships with children, guardians and colleagues alike. Preschool
Teachers are also expected to provide support and guidance to the Preschool Assistants.

Who are we looking for?
The successful candidates will meet the criteria below.
Essential:
? Swedish preschool teacher qualification
? Fluent in Swedish and proficient in English
Desirable:
? Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, it’s extra desirable with previous
experience of being in charge of your own group in preschool.
? Experience in using ICT in a school setting and preexisting knowledge of
SchoolSoft and Google Classroom is extra desirable
? Have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom
Emphasis will also be put on the candidates’ personal traits as we are keen to find the right
staff members to join our team.

Form of employment
The offered positions are full-time and will commence on Monday 22 August 2022. Any
employment with the school will start with a probation period of one academic year which
will extend to a fixed-term contract, a total of three years of employment.
Salary
Individual salary structure.
Work visa
Following the UK’s exit from the European Union, any non-British citizen must prove their
right to live and work in the UK. If required, the Swedish School in London will sponsor and
support the successful candidate to apply for a three-year work visa (paid by the school).
Moving allowance
For candidates hired from outside of the United Kingdom, we offer traveling and moving
allowance. We can also assist you with information about the move to the United
Kingdom.

? Evidence of Teacher Qualification, including the list of subjects you’re qualified in

The Swedish School in London is committed to Safeguarding and Promoting the Welfare
of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this
commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check in the
UK and expected to provide an updated register from Sweden.
