The Preservation Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that all project materials, components, and systems are maintained in optimal condition from the time of procurement through installation, commissioning, and handover. This position is essential to protecting the integrity and quality of materials and equipment used in a large-scale industrial infrastructure project. The Preservation Engineer will work closely with procurement, construction, quality, and logistics teams to implement and oversee preservation strategies.
1. Responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance:
Always adhere to and promote the safety policies of the project.
Ensure that all works are executed in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Preservation Planning:
Develop and implement preservation plans and procedures tailored to the specific requirements of project materials and equipment.
Ensure preservation requirements are integrated into the procurement, storage, and installation processes.
Material Inspection and Tracking:
Coordinate and Conduct inspections upon material and equipment delivery to verify compliance with preservation standards.
Coordinate the Maintenance of records of material conditions, storage environments, and preservation activities in line with project documentation requirements.
Environmental and Storage Control:
Monitor and control environmental conditions (e.g., humidity, temperature, exposure) in storage and laydown areas.
Collaborate with site teams to ensure proper storage, handling, and transport procedures.
Preservation Maintenance Activities:
Implement and oversee scheduled maintenance activities for materials and equipment during the construction phase.
Ensure rotating equipment, electrical components, and sensitive materials are adequately protected and maintained.
Coordination and Communication:
Liaise with vendors and suppliers to ensure preservation recommendations are followed.
Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams to ensure preservation measures are continued until systems are fully operational.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and best practices in preservation.
Conduct audits and inspections to verify the effectiveness of preservation measures.
Training and Documentation:
Provide training to site personnel on proper handling, storage, and preservation procedures.
Maintain detailed records of preservation activities for project handover and audits.
2. Qualifications:
Educational & Professional:
Formal education in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or related field.
10 years of experience in preservation engineering or a similar role within large-scale industrial projects (e.g., oil and gas, power generation, manufacturing plants).
Strong knowledge of industry standards (e.g., API, ASTM, ASME).
Familiarity with material preservation techniques for various components, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
Proficient in using preservation management software and documentation systems.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to analyze and mitigate risks associated with material deterioration.
Ability to develop preservation requirements when not fully defined
