Purpose of the role
You will work as part of the Analytical & Testing Team with a focus on furthering R&Ds analytical capabilities as outlined in the R&D Analytical Strategy and support the Formulation Scientists in NPD with product testing and evaluation techniques.
You will work closely with key stakeholders, including R&D Laboratories and global manufacturing sites, to influence the product design and create robust analytical & shelf-life solutions. You will need to apply sound chemical and physical reasoning to help understand and resolve formulation and scale-up issues of various cosmetic products.
Outside of NPD, you will be responsible for developing and supporting the deployment of analytical technology and techniques within R&D and the wider organization. You will be a technical leader within the organization delivering results with Togetherness, Spirit and Passion!
You will be based in Stockholm, and report to the Industrialization & Analytical Manager.
What will you Do?
New Product Development
· Maintain cosmetic formulation stability (shelf life) expertise within R&D and act as analytical coordinator between all R&D functions.
· Work with R&I, Formulation and Technology Chemists to support development of innovative new technologies
· Work with other functions such as industrialisation, microbiology and packaging to ensure the formulations are tested according to correct protocols, review results and make recommendations.
· Support formulation, scale-up and any post-industrialisation issues as they arise. Execute root cause investigations and put corrective and presentative actions in place as required.
Analytical Technology
· Work closely with I&A Manager to advance Oriflame’s analytical capabilities.
· Be responsible for Technical & Scientific Monitoring: Develop and validate new analytical tools and protocols in Oriflame R&D, in line with R&Ds Analytical Strategy
· Ideate and develop new process technologies to support new product innovations, cost saving opportunities and quality perception improvements.
· Perform measurements & testing on a regular basis on all typologies of raw materials & cosmetic products with various analytical instruments (eg: Microscopy, Rheology, Texture Analyser, predictive stability, Differential scanning calorimetry, etc).
· Propose relevant partnerships with strategic collaborators and equipment suppliers in order to develop new technologies.
· Act as International Auditor and Trainer of physical characterization techniques
· Manage development and activity of one Laboratory Technician

Your background and your qualifications
· Educated to degree level in Cosmetic Science or Engineering, Ideally holds MS or PhD in a relevant discipline.
· At least 5 years relevant experience in a cosmetic or research environment.
· Experience with physical analysis, stability and/or cosmetic formulation.
· An understanding and hands-on ability to develop analytical test methods in collaboration with existing in-house personnel.
· Experience with problem solving using statistical analysis, DoE and other tools is an advantage
· Professional written and verbal communication skills in English
