What we offer? 
At Body control, a part of the department/ART (Agile Release Train) Body Control and Road Contact we are passionate in developing technology that enables Volvo Car Group to fulfill its ambitious targets to be among leaders in the areas of Ride Comfort, Sustainability, Safety and Driving Dynamics. We are responsible for the Wheel Suspension development such as link arms, knuckles, wheel bearings and subframes. Parts that are sourced and developed both in-house and at suppliers. We have responsibilities that stretches all the way from concept development, through the development cycle, and to the launch of the car.
We are now looking for a dedicated Principal Engineer who will work with focus on our mechanical structural content.
What you will do
As Principal Engineer for mechanical structure you will be part of the architecture team. You will be responsible of defining the team development by clarifying future needs and opportunities within metal structure components for wheel suspension, supporting the fulfillment of attributes such as durability, NVH and passive safety. 
Together with the Product Owner you will ensure that the team functions as a learning, fact-driven organization with a planned future according to the strategic guidelines given by management.
You will also support the agile teams in defining, exploring, and implementing enablers, provide oversight guidance, and foster a quality-first culture using modern tools and technologies. 


Who you are
You are curious, positive and have a strong drive and ability to engage a team and take ownership of different tasks. We see that you have a focus on complete vehicles and understand the attribute effect of our structural parts. It is also important that you have solid experience in development of metal part and its different manufacturing processes.
To fit the position, you have a MSc or BSc in Mechanical Engineer or similar experience that we consider to be equivalent.

Your communication skills are excellent and you value collaboration and balancing of different stakeholders. You use your technical ability and expertise to understand and decide the most balanced system alternative. 
We also see that you are fluent in English, written and spoken.

Furthermore, we find it meritorious if you have several years of experience in product development within the automotive sector as well as knowledge and experience in Body in White development, creating conceptual models in CATIA and geometrical system developing process. 
If you have experience working in an agile environment and with chassis components like springs, anti-rollbars, bushings, and dampers, we considered it as meritorious.
