Principal Scientist – Analytical Chemistry –Analytical Development, R&D
Are you our new science driven Principal Scientist to be based in Helsingborg, Sweden?
Analytical Development, R&D is a part of the EMEA Self Care business. The principal scientist will work with development of new regional and global OTC products. The Helsingborg R&D site is responsible for the need states Cough& Cold, Digestive Health and Smoking Cessation but also supports other regional Self Care projects.

You will work within a group of 14 colleagues at the department, working with New Product Development (NPD). The position is based in Helsingborg but with some possibilities to work from home managing everyday contacts with external and internal partners, CROs and J&J colleagues across the globe.
As a participant in R&D project teams, you will represent the Analytical Department and acting as point of contact. You will plan, lead and support analytical activities and in a number of NPD projects.

Analytical activities will include but not be limited to:
Represent analytical in cross functional teams
Analytical test method development and validation (both desktop evaluations and practical laboratory work)
Analytical test method transfers
Identify, evaluate external partners, set up agreements and manage work with CROs
Participate in Due Diligence work
Write documents related to regulatory submissions
Contribute in the departments continuously work within EHS and GMP and other organizational related work



Qualifications
Minimum of Master of Science within a relevant chemistry or pharmaceutical area (required)
5 + years of experience in an analytical laboratory role with a major emphasis on analytical method development, optimization and product testing (required)
Demonstrated experience and deep knowledge within UPLC and other major analytical techniques (required)
Knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements for medicinal products (merit)
Ability to grasp, understand and translate sophisticated problems into explicit work packages (require)
Since the product portfolio is global, a broad knowledge of worldwide requirements is a plus.
Activities are, to a large extent, outsourced and experience in working with contract development/research organizations is a merit.



What you will need to succeed
To be successful within NPD Analytical Development, you need to be an innovative and a creative problem solver who can work independently, while managing multiple priorities optimally. The ability to influence others without direct line authority is highly preferred. You need to have both a team spirit and leadership skills. Strong written and oral communication skills are highly valued.
