Principal Scientist of Translational Science RIA

The Role
We are currently looking for innovative and highly motivated scientists to join the Translational Science Team within the Respiratory, Inflammation and Autoimmunity Innovative Medicine Unit in Mölndal / Göteborg, Sweden. Successful candidates will become part of a newly formed, creative and flexible team that identifies new targets in human respiratory and autoimmune diseases based on the deep understanding the driving disease mechanisms. We are interested in scientists with a strong background in immunology and with a proven track record of research in academia or industry. In the role you will combine your creative ideas with the hands-on scientific research activities. We are looking for expertise in a range of immunological and molecular biology methods needed for the driving in-house translational research.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- You will drive discovery research activities to build the scientific knowledge in the disease areas.
- You will deliver new target ideas and validate those in relevant in vitro and vivo models.
- You will develop biomarkers suitable for disease phenotyping and patient stratification.
- You will support the design and development of external collaborations
- Good team playing and communication skills and ability to operate effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Communicating results within AstraZeneca and externally at meetings and publications.

Education
PhD

Experience
Approx 5 years work experience in pharmaceutical R & D industry or discovery and developmental projects in the academia.
A strong record of published research in immunology or in respiratory and inflammatory diseases
