We?re currently looking for a Principal Scientist to join our pharmaceutical innovation group. You will play a leading role in the strategic implementation of science and technology initiatives within Pharmaceutical Development. We´ll look to you to develop and utilise your expertise in strategic thinking to generate innovative new ideas. This is a great opportunity to receive broad exposure to Science & Technology activities across Pharmaceutical Development while establishing a strong network within AstraZeneca, as well as being part of a new and rapidly growing team.
Pharmaceutical Innovation within Pharmaceutical Development:
The Pharmaceutical Innovation groups Goal is, To be a catalyst for a step change in the value contribution of Pharmaceutical Development, The group has three main accountabilities.
- Leading the development of Pharmaceutical Development?s Science and Technology Strategy and facilitating its implementation through the functions.
- Ownership of Pharm. Dev´s Innovation and Intellectual Property Processes.
- To act as an incubator for groundbreaking new S&T areas in Pharmaceutical Development ? currently Intelligent Pharmaceuticals and In-silico Experimentation (Simulation, Prediction and Modelling)
As a Principal Scientist, Science and Technology, it is essential that you have:
- Significant experience working within a pharmaceutical organisation
- An advanced degree in a relevant discipline
- Experience in global drug development and a strong understanding of the wider business
- Knowledge and insight into relevant partner functions in Discovery, Development and Operations and their technology interactions with Pharmaceutical Development
- Direct experience of applying for, managing and supporting the audit of government and NGO funding for Science and Technology projects.
The following skills and qualifications are desirable:
- A high degree of personal scientific credibility
- An ability to think across scientific and functional boundaries, challenge the status quo and seek opportunities for business improvement through Science and Technology
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across interfaces of discipline, culture, and expertise - both internally and externally
- Strong project leadership skills
- Strong networking skills and the confidence and credibility to drive your team´s effectiveness.
