Ericsson enables communications service providers to assemble the full value of connectivity. The company’s portfolio spans Networks, Digital Services, Managed Services, Enterprise Wireless Solutions, and Emerging Business and is designed to help our customers go digital, increase efficiency, find new revenue streams, and create new user experiences.
Ericsson is a pioneer in the mobile world, and with more than 54,000 patents to our name, we have made it our business to make a mark. When joining our team at Ericsson you are empowered to learn, lead, and perform at your best, shaping the future of technology. This is a place where you are welcomed as your own perfectly unique self, and celebrated for the skills, talent, and perspective you bring to the team.
About this opportunity
It will be practically impossible for human brains alone to understand how to run and optimize the next generation of wireless networks, i.e., 5G network with distributed edge compute, that will drive economic and social transformation for all aspects of society. Machine Learning (ML) and other Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is vital for us to handle this opportunity. We have established a Global AI Accelerator (GAIA) across US, Sweden, and India, with 300 specialists, to fast-track our strategy execution.
Within the GAIA, there is a unit for ML/AI Systems & Services (MASS), with teams in Sweden, US, and India. GAIA MASS is developing AI/ML functionality and systems, partly based on third party components and open source, to be integrated into Ericsson products and services. These components are enabling the entire life-cycle management of AI/ML, ensuring security, performance, scalability, and reliability.
We are now looking for a Principal Software Engineer – Cloud AI / ML – with deep hands-on experiences from Cloud and hyper-scaler AI / ML tools and environments to join our GAIA MASS team in Stockholm, reporting to Head of GAIA MASS Sweden.

This includes relation to our inhouse developed ML platform which consists of an aligned set of AI/ML components, covering all phases of the ML lifecycle (MLOps) including exploration, pipelines, training, serving, and monitoring. You will be working closely with our development team and product management. The work is both hands on, including implementing AI/ML applications and practical evaluation of Cloud AI/ML services and third-party components, as well as driving and taking part in theoretical studies.
What you will do
Develop next generation AI/ML solutions leveraging Cloud and hyper-scaler services for a wide range of Ericsson AI/ML applications
Contribute to strategy for GAIA Infrastructure AI/ML platform and relation to Cloud AI/ML services
Suggest solutions/tools for portability between Cloud AI/ML environments, Ericsson AI/ML platforms and other third-party environments. This includes driving studies, building PoC’s, and working closely with other teams in Ericsson.
Creation of outside-in industry analysis and benchmarking, third-party landscape analysis, make-or-buy analysis
You will bring
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related subject areas from any of the reputed institutes
Minimum 10+ years of proven experience with global software product management and R&D
Good understanding of the full AI/ML development and deployment lifecycle
Cloud AI/ML certification and hands on experience from one or more Cloud AI/ML environments
Proficiency in one or multiple Cloud AI/ML services (Google Vertex AI, Amazon SageMaker, Microsoft AzureML) including services for model and pipeline development, feature engineering and feature stores, model serving and monitoring and data storage and processing.
Experience with open-source AI/ML frameworks and infrastructure components including Tensorflow, PyTorch, Kubeflow, Seldon, MLFlow, Feast, and more.

In addition, it is beneficial that you have one or many of the following experiences:
