We are now looking to recruit the right person to be part of a small team, leading our development efforts in current and future electrical architectures. We are recruiting a system design engineer that will work with early architectural design concepts, securing that the architecture supports core business functionality for Volvo buses.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The main area of responsibility would be to provide technical guidance and design concepts to solve Volvo bus needed functionality in current and future electrical and software architectures. It mainly in early phases of projects and investigations that this position will work.
Some of the main areas that this position will be responsible for is our body builder interface, bus unique functionality (compared to the rest of Volvo Group) and our own body interface. One challenge will be to find out how we in Volvo Buses will be able to keep developing bus unique functionality into future electrical architectures that we share with the rest of Volvo Group. Other areas that is coming up is adapting our architecture to support cybersecurity legal demands that is coming to the automotive sector.
You will support the function development in this area with expertise, investigations and guidance trough long-term strategies and roadmap work. You will also cooperate a lot with other system owners and architects in Volvo Buses in these areas, as well as our colleagues in GTT, to prepare for future electrical and software architectures.
You will also work closely to two development teams that are handling the development in this area, cooperating, and assisting with technical leadership in these teams are also important part of the work. Building a good social network with colleagues in other areas of Volvo bus as well as GTT is a critical success factor for this role.
Since we are a smaller company, we all work with broad responsibilities and cross-functionally through the entire company, across many different departments, cultures, and competence areas. This position will be no different, you will need to coordinate work and handle items outside your normal responsibility from time to time.

Our department, Electrical and Software Architecture is a function within Global Bus Technology (GBT) at Volvo Buses which is responsible to integrate Volvo group technology into our buses and develop bus unique solutions when needed. We are responsible to secure short- and long-term quality solutions on the electrical and software systems of the bus. In close cooperation with colleagues at different departments, we are supporting each other in reaching our mission in helping millions of travellers reaching their travel destination. THIS PROBABLY DEFINES YOU
We believe you have several years of experience from Volvo Group electrical architecture work, both with the “bridgeplan” and TEA2+ architectures. You have a good understanding of automotive electrical and software architecture work and experience from different parts of the development process.
Experience in leading and participating in teams and development networks, coordinating work across different competences to ensure the end delivery is the best compromise is also valued. We think that you have a MSc degree in mechatronics/electrical/software engineering or equivalent, are great at communication and networking, solution focused and eager to learn and work with your own development. You are fluent in English, spoken and written.
