Information about the assignment: Academic Work recruitment is looking for an ambitious and persistant principal to Internationella Engelska Skolan.About the company Internationella Engelska Skolan is a leading independent school group ("friskola"), reaching academic results far above average.It was founded in 1993 by Ms.Barbara Bergström, a Science teacher, originally from the US.In 2009, she received the award "Entrepreneur of the Year in Sweden".Nearly 9,000 students are currently enrolled in 15 schools around the country, mainly grades 4 - 9 or "grundskola".The company has an annual turnover of 500 million SEK and close to 900 members of staff.It is in a phase of rapid expansion.More about the company and this position can be found at www.engelska.se Job description: Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) has had a significant role in changing the face of Swedish education with a clear focus on quality teaching and learning.The schools regularly win awards, achieve top academic results and have long waiting lists.IES is funded entirely by the Swedish state?s national voucher system and their schools are open to all.New schools are opening in 2011 and Internationella Engelska Skolan is now hiring a principal for one of them.In the role as principal you will be responsible for the school?s business and organization.The principal needs to be outgoing and visible for students, parents and teachers.Responsibilities will for example include: * School budget and PR * Contact with parents * Contact with Skolverket and other government authorities * Security Requirements: * Higher education is mandatory * Experience from leading others and business knowledge is required * Fluency in English and Swedish It is considered an additional qualification if you have previous experience from political campaigns or works with children.Furthermore you are quality-conscious, persistent and have excellent leadership skills.You are able to lead and motivate others with the authority required and can create a level of commitment and participation.You are also a person who takes the initiative, sets high goals and works hard to achieve them.
