Process Chemical Safety Manager

To expand the Group Safety team and to provide specialist input also for the development of a Group-wide Process Safety framework, we are looking for a Process Chemical Safety manager. As a Process Chemical Safety Manager, you will be responsible for sustaining compliance with applicable chemical safety regulations applicable in the areas of occupational safety and process safety, while developing and implementing all aspects to these safety areas across the Group. The primary location for the position is Helsinki but we are flexible for other locations. You will be reporting to the Head of Group Safety and working cooperatively with Group, Divisional and Local stakeholders and across functions.

You will be responsible for:
Providing specialist input for the development and implementation of the Group’s Process Safety and Occupational Safety frameworks; to safeguard the environment, protect the wellbeing of individuals and minimize business risk
Fostering a business culture which places high value on minimizing risk and delivering excellent performance against (Process) Safety KPIs
Providing functional support for all sites globally, mainly in the domain of chemical safety, exposure assessments, root cause analysis and auditing

Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a master’s degree in chemical engineering or in other relevant field, as well as 4 - 7 years’ experience from a relevant expert/manager position, preferably in an chemical safety or industrial hygiene role, in a multi-cultural industrial environment. You communicate fluently in English; other languages e.g. Finnish and/or Swedish language skills are an advantage.

To succeed in this role, you need to be service-minded and a good team player, open and inclusive.
In addition, we are looking for these qualities when selecting for this position:
Detailed understanding of chemical safety, preferable with good knowledge of substances used in wood & pulp chemistry
Experience in providing chemical safety input relating to process safety assessments, frameworks and audits / investigation
Extensive knowledge of different investigation & analysis techniques, including human factor analysis, RCA, etc
Industrial Hygiene certification is seen as an asset
Project management skills
Understanding of safety metrics and KPIs
Good training and communications skills
Ability to collaborate with stakeholders on various levels internally and externally
Performance oriented and ability to always deliver against set targets and deadlines
