Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Process Engineer to join our Skellefteå team.

The Process engineer is the subject matter expert for their respective field of expertise (e.g. powder handling, drying, laser processing, welding). They consult in the equipment and process design phase before FAT, during commission phase and are the main responsible engineers for new technology development and implementation in the mass manufacturing process in Ett as well as complex problem-solving projects and the creation of fundamental process understanding.
The Process Engineer will be in close contact and collaboration with the central design and R&D teams and all local site engineering teams (e.g. manufacturing and production engineering).
Key responsibilities:
Local subject matter expert in a specific field with multiple years of experience
Lead fundamental process investigations and development through theoretical research in
Lead/participate in complex problem-solving task force teams in Ett
Own the development of new BOP releases based on their respective field of expertise and hand over responsibility to production/manufacturing engineering after validation and change management process
Transfer fundamental knowledge to new technologies by close cooperation with equipment vendors
Perform trials to understand phenomena better and enable data driven decisions
Leading or supporting qualification, evaluation and implementation of new technologies for future production lines and products as well as brown field project
Support central team with detailed input for creation of the technical specification provided to the supplier
Support project team and manufacturing engineers during commissioning activities and product qualification on site for green field projects
Support central team and manufacturing team in PFMEA and HAZOP creation
Provide feedback, lessons learned and guidance to central design, R&D and local engineering teams to ensure equipment quality and process requirements are implemented
Able to manage and onboard multiple suppliers and other cross functional team.
Requirements
4+ years of relevant work experience within equipment and process design and engineering related fields
Experienced in equipment design, commissioning, process development and technology development
Experienced with QA troubleshooting tools
Successful track record of leading process improvement projects in a production factory
Experience from building and scaling production in a fast-growing environment ideally in the Battery, Automotive, Food, Pharma, Paper & Pulp, Semiconductor, Electrochemical or similar industry
Curious, technically educated, and preferably with a strong problem-solving background Specific skills, Abilities and Personal Success Factors (e.g., specific programs, languages, certifications etc.)
