We are looking for a driven Process Material Flow Engineer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our Factory Development team based in Stockholm, Sweden. By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing material flow designs for our factories and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.
About the job
The Process Material Flow engineer will be responsible for managing production capacities. In this role you will own optimizing and balancing manufacturing lines, assembly lines, buffers, and material flows through the factory. You will work closely with technical teams to ensure factory throughput and optimize the utilization of space in our factories.
About the team
The factory development team is responsible for developing factory designs which support the seamless integration between production, packaging, material flow, supply chain, construction and facilities. Through a detailed understanding of factory objectives and extensive collaboration with internal and external teams designing the factory setup, this team ensures that the overall factory design achieves Northvolt’s demanding production targets. Today the team consist of ~10 people, and we are looking for our next star.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Balance processes (manufacturing, assembly, material flow, buffers, support processes) to maximize efficiency during design phase for future factory operations.
Generate factory simulations/models (preferred PlantSimulation) to validate capacities, identify bottlenecks, and develop flow paths and fleet sizes.
Establish capacity specifications (OEE and cycle times) and drive cross-functional teams to solve any bottlenecks blocking this capacity.
Calculate and validate direct and indirect headcount requirements
Optimize manufacturing layouts incorporating material flow and headcount allocation
Support production ramp-up and handover to sustaining industrial/process engineers

Skills & Requirements
We believe that you have :
M.Sc. in Engineering, preferably within Production Management/Logistics/Engineering, Process or Mechanical Engineering or similar
4+ years of experience in manufacturing, production development, digital factories, or material flow.
2+ years of experience with material flow simulations or digital manufacturing.
Excellent project management skills (create and maintain open issue lists, lead high level meetings, own master schedules and issue resolution)
Knowledge in OEE, capacity planning, cycle time analysis and line balancing
Exemplary verbal and written communication skills and mastery in conflict management and objective thinking.
Bonus points for:
Experience with line balancing/optimization, line ramp-up, factory/production design, process design or similar.
Fluency in other languages
Experience from a multi-cultural environment
