Procurement Engineer

The opportunity
Join our team in Ludvika as a Procurement Engineer at Hitachi Energy! You'll be crucial in delivering sustainable, high voltage solutions for the global energy infrastructure by securing top-quality components.

How you’ll make an impact
Be the pivotal link in innovation: Represent and act as the SCM interface for new product development R&D projects, ensuring the supply chain strategy aligns seamlessly with engineering objectives and project timelines.
Champion streamlined prototype procurement: Manage the entire procurement process for prototype parts -and selecting and evaluating suppliers, facilitating technical discussions, and overseeing on-time, high-quality component deliveries.
Drive quality and timely results: Collaborate closely with local prototype suppliers to ensure parts meet stringent quality standards and arrive on schedule, maintaining project momentum.
Own key supply chain milestones: Take responsibility for crucial SCM-related benchmarks, including material availability for prototype tests, maintenance of project cost data, PPAP activity management, and comprehensive documentation.
Leverage global expertise: Work together with global and regional teams, technical SCM experts to build a strong, qualified supplier base. Your efforts will help optimize costs, improve reliability, and enhance project success.

Your background
A degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or similar relevant field.
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and supplier networks in casting, machining, forging, welding, and surface treatment.
Experience in the switchgear/electrical transmission industry or a related field is preferred.
Familiarity with SAP and other ERP systems is an advantage.
Basic understanding of processes like Lean Six Sigma and PPAP.
Ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to foster positive relationships with internal teams and suppliers.
Fluency in Swedish and English is required.
Willingness to travel as required to visit suppliers, oversee prototype inspections, support assembly activities and other business related meetings.
