Company Description
Are you a senior product leader passionate about creating customer and business value using modern technology? Would you like to take part in shaping the future experience for customers around the globe and across multiple brands? Are you interested in leading a digital transformation, helping us build new capabilities and competencies that will accelerate the growth of one of the largest fashion retailers?
We are now looking for a Product Area Manager to lead our Store Checkout product area within the Customer domain of our H&M Business Tech organization.
About this Product Area:
Store Checkout’s mission is to provide a seamless checkout experience for customers and store colleagues by providing easy, intuitive checkout products. Working closely with collaboration partners within Business Tech and across the company, your teams will ensure we understand the needs of both our customers and our store colleagues to develop and deploy solutions that deliver an exceptional experience and achieve the ambition of our healthy, relevant store portfolio. The area is responsible for supporting all brands and regions across the H&M Group.
Job Description
You will co-lead the Store Checkout product area, currently consisting of 14 product teams (approximately 120 people), together with the Product Area Lead Engineer. You will have staff responsibility for all Product Owners.
As Product Area Manager, you will develop a product vision and strategy for Store Checkout together with your team, your peers, and your stakeholders. You will lead the organization to deliver business value, both short- and long-term, by securing operations; developing and optimizing the experience and features; and identifying and investing in underlying digital capabilities and infrastructure, always with our customers at the center.
You will also be part of the Customer domain leadership team, where you will work closely with your fellow Product Area Managers to identify dependencies and align roadmaps as well as progress our digital transformation. In addition, you will build trusted relationships with collaboration partners across the H&M Group, inside and outside of Business Tech, and work closely with relevant partners to align the product area strategy with our brand strategies.
Your responsibilities will include:
Define high-level KPIs and targets for the entire Product Area and align them with the respective Product Owners, supporting a data-driven environment
Support the product teams in day-to-day priorities and product demos, and lead regular product area demos to provide transparency and gain input across the organization
Conduct quarterly business reviews to set clear direction, aligning the Customer domain direction and product team direction
Manage the area budget, taking accountability for the financial impact incurred by leveraged resources and solutions in the product teams of the Product Area
Employ servant-leadership to coach and empower Product Owners and product teams, supporting them to increase the speed and impact of their work
Responsibility for the overall work environment of your team including creating an explorative environment and culture that embraces acting, learning, and adapting
Qualifications
You have great leadership skills and believe in a culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust. You empower others to fail, learn, grow and celebrate success as much as failure. We believe that you are a curious leader, focused on value creation, growth, and serving customers with full ownership and accountability. You have a holistic mindset and are skilled in breaking down silos, enabling collaboration, and empowering teams in a changing environment. We call this servant leadership.
We also believe that you have:
The ability to successfully lead an organization with 80-100 employees and 8-12 product teams
Extensive experience in product management and product leadership with 10-15+ years in product or product-related roles, including product experience within a large organization
Background in retail (5+ years), including experience driving customer experience and/or checkout solutions
Familiarity and interest in the customer and retail store trends
Experience setting a product vision and KPIs and building an end-to-end product strategy and roadmap for multiple products
Comfort distilling data and insights into strong hypotheses, developing business cases, and using analytics to take data-driven decision
Superb communication and collaboration skills, with experience bringing together multiple stakeholders across teams to align on a common mission
Consistent track record of creating customer and business value, including experience working with OKRs
