Product Buyer
At Purchasing, you are part of a global team with the mission to develop and maintain a world-class supplier base. Ensuring the supply of materials and services - at the right cost, quality and technology - is essential for the success of Volvo Car Group. Ultimately, it's all about cooperating with people inside and outside the company to create a superior experience for the people who buy and drive a Volvo.
Volvo Car is having a very positive momentum with several new car programs in the near future. We will now recruit 10-15 new Product Buyers to support this growth. These buyer positions will be located in several different purchasing teams. All these teams purchase material to advanced projects, new projects and running production for Volvo Car Group manufacturing plants globally.
As Product Buyer you will together with the group be responsible for activities through the complete production lifecycle of concerned parts, such as sourcing of new projects, change management and negotiation of running business. We develop a global supplier base and commodity strategies as well as maintain existing supplier relationships.
Main responsibilities
* To effect negotiations at an optimal cost level according to applicable agreement structure
* Make agreements and contracts and implement these through the appropriate transaction tools
* Co-operate in cross-functional teams to develop and utilise strategies to maximise corporate synergies
* Administration work such as transactions, updating price files, reporting of performance and resolving supplier issues
* Act as main contact for all commercial issues towards the suppliers base
* Sourcing activities according to Volvo Product Development System deliverables, specifically: issue RFQ, negotiate and establish agreements, issue purchase orders
* Act on design changes within the project following Quote-One-Page procedures
* Establish action plans on part-specific supplier issues in running business
* Give input on pre-requisites for development of future suppliers
* Attend Global Commodity Council Meeting to align strategy between China and EU
Required qualifications
* Commercial or Technical education at university or equivalent
* Any experience in relevant area can have advantage but is not required
* Experience in leading projects
* Interest in technology and in making business
* Good overall computer (MS Office) and administration skills are needed including good knowledge in excel and power point
* Good knowledge in English, written and spoken
* Experience from automotive industry is an advantage

* Likes challenges and is very focused on reaching the finish line
* Good cooperation and communication skills to create challenge with respect both internally and externally
* Good negotiation skills and ability to challenge with respect and find win-win solutions
* Structured way of working with an ability to handle many issues/projects in parallel
